| Good Lord I can't keep this thing updated. I recieved an e-mail from the the 'Xanga Team' (an automated thing) telling me that the site has "missed me" (awws!) and it's been a while since I last updated my blog. I chuckled and didn't think much of it until now when I'm sitting here at work falling asleep, sipping a Diet Coke from McDonalds, eating chips, and clogging my arteries on fattening food (of which I've acknowledged I eat too much of and need to start working out - not that I'm fat, but I'm gaining weight that I've needed for years, but it's all going to the gut *laughs*).
I'm going to just use a list and update what's been going on thus far since October.
- Wonderful relationship ended well before Christmas last year (they always do, the stupid things)
- My office is closing on April 11th (but not before I use my benefits for my vision and cover a 3-month supply of contacts and my glasses frames!)
- I have a retro video game system called the Turbografx 16 (one of the first ones I used growing up in the 90's)
- I have a "next-gen" console.. I've finally taken the time to upgrade to an XBOX 360
- I owe the government $771 in incomeback-taxes (they can never get any fucking thing right... let alone their math!)
- I'm disappointed in Halo 3
Stop... (it's Hammertime).. or not really. But it's time to break it down.
Topic 1: It was fine at the time and then I found some messy things out shortly thereafter. Suffice it to say, I have my giant stuffed penguin back along with the $255 14k bracelet I gave her. 'Nuff said.
Topic 2: Stream (the company I work for) has decided to close it's doors here in Saint John and the original cut-off day was March 15, 2008. Their excuse/reason for closing our site was that out of all Stream sites, ours is the only one with a single contract and as such, it wasn't financially viable to stay open (complete and utter bullshit because they could easily pull in another contract from another company).... but someone somewhere in corporate decided to keep our site open for another month or so until April 11th, 2008. By that time, they'd already screwed alot of us over as some have quit because the company is run by fucktards, some want Unemployment, some are moving, and some are going elsewhere for work. Especially for those that are moving, they've been screwed out of another month's worth of work due ot the fact that their moving date was set previous to the decision to stay open (my brother as an example). In terms of scheduling, my boss had me scheduled to work all last week and as such, I had to have him reschedule me and work short-handed because my manager here on-site wouldn't fix things when the company he works for completely fucked me over. Needless to say, I've had myself removed from Fri/Sat schedules at the office to work downstairs in the mall at The Source/Radioshack (along with working Mondays when the office is closed).
Topic 3: When I was growing up in the early 90's, my dad (as awesome as he is), picked up a videogame system called the Turbografx 16 (the 16 stood for 16-bit). The system was as advanced as the Supernintendo, was released a few years earlier than the SNES, and featured an attatchment for the CD system (sold separately) or the 'File Cabinet' system (sold separately to let you save games). The games were all released on 'Hu Cards' (about the size of a credit card in width and depth, and about three credit cards thick...very bloody small) which were compact and portable, cases the size of a CD case. To me, the system was completely kick ass and brought me the best gaming experience (and they still do, thanks to emulators and roms, along with Nintendo's Wii - the games are downloadable via their online store/marketplace)... they brought me the more modern experience as I was still enjoying playing the old ColecoVision and Atari systems in my spare time. Sadly, our system had broken about 1996/97 in an accident involving the power-source, and we were left empty-handed with it :( Now that I've explained that, I was on my way home for a visit and my bus happened to be delayed due to snowy weather.. and I found a man selling a Turbo-system with two games, controller, video cables, and power-cable priced at $95. I didn't miss the opportunity and promptly brought the system home.
Topic 4: I've finally made the switch to the XBOX 360 Pro console.. after selling my XBOX (with 26 games, three controllers, component output box, and 3ft component cables) for $175. I combined it with my Futureshop credit card that happened to have $200 on it and decided to get a 360 Pro... but F-Shop was sold out and had them all on back-order. I didn't want to be bored for another two weeks, so I picked up the Elit system and paid a total of $508 and pocket change and as well, picked up Halo 3. Upon getting home, I had second thoughts and decided not to open either the game or the system and wait until the "Easter" Saturday and returned them both, simply to pay for the XBOX Pro bundle and save myself $180 in total, but now I had to wait until the back-order systems came in... I was okay with that. This past Monday, I was at The Source/Radioshack and realised "Hey.. we have 360 Pro bundles in here for the same price... and the cashier at F-Shop screwed up and rang my refund/charge for the new system in wrong. Says I paid entireley in cash (which I didn't originally).. I'm getting a refund." So I promptly cabbed over to F-Shop, obtained my refund on debit, came back to the store and made my purchase. I also picked up Halo 3: Legendary Edition later Monday night (was only $10 more than the basic game I picked up, which is why I returned the original) - next Friday... Guitar Hero 3.
Topic 5: Apparently I made just over $27,000 last year in income and the government was supposed to take about $4200 out in taxes... but only managed to (somehow) take out $3420. Typical Government fucks. Needless to say, I'm not happy - especially now that I have to pay H&R Block their $85 fee for a one-minute process to copy/paste numbers from my T4 slips into an Excel spreadsheet that automatically does the work for them.
Topic 6: I've been playing Halo 3 the last two nights since Monday (about three hours a night) and I'm already nearly finished the game. I'm very disappointed as to how short the game is.. but the visuals are nice despite recieving a coat of wax/polish since Halo 2 (it's been nearly 4 years to improve on the graphics engine Bungie!). I've found myself laughing my ass off at the little Covenant grunts as they run around and yell and scream their little cries of surprise, anger, and fear as they spot you. I admit, some of them sound hilariously cute.
Moar updates to come (including new pictures, links, etc). |
